Michael Garrett, a principal of Garrett & Smith, LLC, is a product of three generations of family-owned construction and real estate development businesses operating primarily in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Mr. Garrett is an engineering graduate of the University of Virginia. Mr. Garrett served as a Seabees in the Republic of Vietnam, where he was involved in the planning and construction of large military and civilian complexes.
Mr. Garrett worked six years for the family-owned construction company, Skinker & Garrett, Inc. (est. in 1911) before founding and becoming the sole stockholder of MRG Constructors, Inc., in 1977. Mr. Garrett has been materially involved in developing single-use and multi-faceted residential and commercial developments in Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.
Michael and Linda Garrett have been married for forty years, and have two sons, Brian and Sean.

Bob Smith, a principal of Garrett & Smith, LLC, is a 1974 graduate of the Villanova University School of Commerce and Finance where his field of study was Business Administration with an emphasis on investment management. During his nine-year association with Donatelli & Klein, Inc., a multi-faceted real estate investment company, Mr. Smith was involved in the acquisition, development and/or equity financing of real property in excess of $250,000,000.
Mr. Smith was a founding Director of the Montgomery County, Maryland, Crime Solvers Program in association with the Department of Police, a past member of the Board of Directors of Century National Bank of Washington, D.C. and a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club.
Mr. Smith and Patty live in Virginia and enjoy boating and golf in their leisure time.

KMI currently owns and manages several commercial properties in Montgomery County, Maryland that range from retail and office developments to flex-use and industrial buildings. Founded in 1945 as a brick laying contractor, this family company now focuses on managing buildings that it’s developed over the last 60 years. KMI is intimately familiar with managing and developing buildings in the Washington D.C. market and has been managing MacArthur Plaza since February 2016.
